A thermocouple is essentially a safety device for your patio heater. They are found on other devices as well. The thermocouple is designed to keep the pilot lit using a small electric current. Tilt switch is designed to kill gas flow to the main burner if the heater tips over.
If your pilot light will not stay lit, a bad temp sensor or tilt switch is probably the culprit. Situations as follows: the pilot would not stay on; if your heater stopped lighting full flame but the pilot light comes on then goes out; the patio heater pilot light would not stay on and the heater itself would not light, even with a torch; it worked to fix a fire sense pyramid heater where pilot light, but flame didn't; hooked up the propane and it would not stay lit more than 5 minutes; heater is whistling and blowing out or just click click clicks with no ignition; patio heater felled. It was able to ignite, but flame shutdown immediately.
Why does my patio heater keep going out? Pilot is too far from the thermocouple; the pilot is dirty or corroded; if the valve that runs between them is too loose or too tight, the amount of gas being released will be too much or too little, and either way will shut down the pilot light. Carbon can build up on the thermocouple in a similar way to gas on the pilot. The constant run of gas over the thermocouple causes this buildup, and it can cause the sensor to not pick up on the pilot light. When the thermocouple wears out, it will stop sensing the pilot. This will shut down the heater again, and you won't be able to keep warm.
Why choose us? Thermocouple: made of high standard brass and red copper; Protection sleeve: high temperature resistance; Tilt switch: made of sturdy ABS Plastic, which will automatically stop heating when the gas heater is tilted; Wide Compatibility: Suitable for thermoelectric gas heater, outdoor propane heater, glass tube patio heater, porch patio heater, standing patio heater, tower heater, Pyramid heater, Hampton Bay heater, etc.
This patio heater parts is to solve the problem of pilot light not staying lit and heater not ignited. The problem can usually be fixed by replacing the thermocouple and dump switch correctly.
The probe is connected to the ignition, the thermocouple is connected to the valve, and the other two ports are connected to the safety dumping switch. If you are handy, this repair kit can save you a new heater.
